VerBergen

Inspired by the coast of Bergen, VerBergen explores how looking can reveal what might otherwise remain unnoticed. While photographing the landscape, I began to look at my surroundings differently, searching for details that would normally escape my attention.

The resulting photographs were translated into cyanotypes on thin 45-gram Japanese paper. By folding and shaping the prints, parts of the images are concealed while others are brought into focus. What is visible changes with the form, creating a shifting relationship between revealing and hiding.

VerBergen invites the viewer to look beyond the surface, to slow down, look again and discover what might otherwise remain hidden.

For this project, I also created a series of art cards, available for €2.50 each.
